TERRECED GARDEN



Covering an area of 10 acres, Terrace garden in Chandigarh, India was set up in the year 1979. It is located in Sector 33. The main attraction factor of terraced flower garden is its lighted musical fountain, where popular folk as well as film songs are played. It serves as the main venue for conducting the Chrysanthemum Show that is held annually. Chandigarh terraced flower garden contains exquisite varieties of flowering plants. The atmosphere over here is very tranquil and people frequently visit this garden in the evenings to enjoy the cool breeze and to feast their eyes with the surrounding beauty...

FRAGNANCE GARDEN







Garden of fragrance in Chandigarh, India is a must visit garden of the city. It is famous for its distinctive aromatic and fragrant plants. Garden of fragrance is located in Sector 36 on the south side of the Hibiscus Garden. Some of the fragrant plants that can be found here are Raat ki rani, demask roase, motia, Champa, Haar Shingar, mehndi and varieties of jasmine. Chandigarh garden of fragrance also serves as a fabulous picnic spot. Tracks have been laid in the garden and now people come here in the morning and evening time to carry out their physical workouts..

ROCK GARDEN






The Rock Garden has become almost a heritage site. Artists and connoisseurs from all over the world flock to see this unique and amazing creation. The concept is daring, the appeal perennial. Visitors leave in admiration, only to return again. The creator of the Rock Garden, Nek Chand, was a Road Inspector in the Engineering Department of Chandigarh Capital Project. He roamed the Shivalik Foothills and picked up stones resembling bird, animal, human and abstract forms. He brought them on his bicycle. The first seven years (1958-65) were spent collecting natural material, urban and industrial waste. Gradually his collection mounted to a staggering twenty thousand rock forms of amazing beauty. These were deposited around a hut which he had built for his work and contemplation. He built the Rock Garden from this improvised hut which was located by the side of a stream....

ROSE GARDEN




ZAKIR HUSSAIN,ROSE GARDEN is a Botany Garden located in CHANDIGARH,INDIA and spread over 30 acres (120,000 m2) of land, with 50,000 rose-bushes of 1600 different species. Named after India's former president ZAKIR HUSSAIN , and created in 1967 under the guidance of Dr M.S. Randhawa, Chandigarh's first chief commissioner, the garden has the distinction of being Asia's largest. The garden has not only roses, but also trees of medicinal value. Some of the medicinal plants that can be spotted here are bel, bahera, yellow gulmohar. The rose plants have been planted in carved-out lawns and flower beds.
Apart from serving as a host of other events, the Zakir Rose Garden serves as the venue for hosting the annual Festival of Gardens, a major cultural event of the city during the month of March. Celebrated mainly as a tribute to the magnificence of the rose itself, the attractions include food, drinks, joyrides, and contests of varying nature, such as photography, gardening, landscaping, bonsai, and Rose Prince and Princess. The contests are open to the residents or institutions from nearby places.

SUKHNA LAKE






The face of modern India, Chandigarh, is not only the first but the best planned city in India. Water-sporting activities like boating, yachting and water-skiing are carried out with absolute zeal and enthusiasm here. The Sukhna lake has the longest channel for rowing and yachting in Asia. The lake also witnesses a number of festivals that are rejoiced by the tourists as well as the denizens. Sukhna also has a membership-based club that offers myriad facilities to its members. This place is the most sought after picnic spot in Chandigarh. Just a small walk at the shores of the lake relaxes the mind and provides immense peace.
